Chris Wong

Chris is a qualified architect in both Singapore and the UK. He has a keen interest in Liverpool's urban regeneration and in particular the physical transformation of the Chinatown area. Several of his current projects involve bringing derelict and underused buildings in Chinatown back into use for both the community and local businesses. Chris is an active participant in the Chinese New Year Celebrations and an enthusiastic lion dancer!

Wilson Lau

ilson Lau had a successful career in catering sector before he became Technical Administrator in Pine Court Housing Association. His first housing job was with Liverpool Housing Trust through the Positive Action Training programme which runs by voluntary organisation to give him a doorway into mainstream employment. Wilson feels that engaging community is one of the most important parts of housing regeneration, and understanding and participation deliver a sustainability community. Wilson is also involved in helping Wirral Multicultural Organisation and Sefton Equality Partnership as volunteer. He hopes this will help raising the Chinese community profile.

Winnie Wong

Winnie works as the Office Administrator for a voluntary organization and she has been working voluntarily as a Chinese language tutor for a local Chinese community language school. She is fluently in Chinese and English; and she is passionate about supporting the Liverpool Chinese Community.

Jack Cai

ack Cai is Managing Director of KL Trading (UK) LTD - that is specialised in import and export retail goods between UK and China. Jack is an electronic specialist and he has a master degree in Business Administration (Information Technology). Before he became the CEO of the company, Jack was a project manager of two Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects. He was responsible for managing designing and implementing business information systems to enhance their practices and knowledge. At the LCBA, Jack is the Overseas Chinese Business Consultant and the role aims to establish and maintain trade links with parts of China.

Carol Mao

Carol is currently based in China as our Shanghai Correspondent. When Carol was in Liverpool, she workes as a bilingual travel guide in the charity organisation Bradbury Fields, co-ordinating Merseytravel's ToGo project which promotes independent living and social inclusion amongst the visually impaired, especially those from the Black Minority Ethnic (BME) groups. Apart from her work on ToGo project, she also produced, in partnership with other Chinese organisations, the bimonthly Chinese talking newspaper for blind and partially sighted Chinese people all over the country. Originally an anaesthetist and later studied public health, Carol has worked as a freelance interpreter/translator, Mandarin language tutor in St. Helen's Carmel College and health tutor in Hope University. Carol's other involvement with the Chinese community includes working with LCBA as a Life in the UK Citizenship test trainer in 2007.


Brian Wong (黃榮富)

Mr Wong is one of the founding members and Chief Executive of the Liverpool Chinatown Business Association till 2007. He had graduated from Business Studies (Hon) in the 80s. Mr Wong had gained huge practical experience and knowledge in organising and running catering including retail businesses; but he is also very fond of changing his career direction. He went to teach ‘A Level Economics’ in local college for 5 years. Then he took the Mid-term Career Training Bursary in 1989 and gained his Post-Graduate Diploma in Economics and finally finished his MA Economics in Manchester University. In his MA Dissertation he studied and based all the research in China’s Economic Reforms since 1978 with Special Reference to Guangdong Province. After his graduation,he had travelled extensively and visited many big businesses and organisations all over China and Hong Kong. Hence he is very knowledge in Chinese business concept and behaviour and maintaining a huge networks in China.

Alena Tang

Alena is the Tourism Development Executive at The Mersey Partnership and deals primarily with developing thematic tourism activity and examining diversity issues in tourism. Part of her remit involves working with BME and multi-faith groups in the Northwest in social cohesion initiatives. She has a background in event management and is a trustee of Brouhaha International, an arts organisation that holds festival events and community celebrations both locally and abroad.

Mark Chen (陳夢覺)

Mark is the Assistant Coordinator of the Chinese Carers Network which is one of the project managed by Merseyside Chinese Community Development Association (MCCDA). His work involves coordinating and developing the service for the elderly people of the Chinese community. Mark understands the needs of the community in particular social care and issues about Chinese families. He has been part of the working group of Liverpool Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations since 2005.

Ming Wang

Ming Wang is a Bilingual Employment and Training Officer employed by Liverpool City Council, based in Pagoda Chinese Community Centre. She is a qualified and experienced advice and guidance officer and has a Master Degree in Business with Information Technology. Ming speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin which are extremely useful when she assists members of the Chinese Community for job search and job match support. Ming has excellent understanding of the barriers that exist for unemployed and underemployed people in the Chinese community, who wish to enter, re-enter or improve their access to the labour market; educate employers on the steps needed to recruit Chinese staff. In the past few years she has been actively involved in the community events and projects such as Safer Food Better Business and Community Research in Mental Health

Alan Seatwo (司徒浩瑛)

Alan has been part of LCBA since 1994. He is Chief Co-ordinator and manages the overall strategic and operational aspects of the organisation. He has worked in public, business and voluntary sectors and his works involved projects focusing on cultural identity, community cohesions, community safety, physical regeneration and capacity building. Alan also takes part in supporting other organisations, he is Committee Member of Che Kung Tong Chinese Association (UK); and Advisor of See Yep Chinese Association (UK).
